Second public consultation held for Cossans & BESS
5 March 2025

On Friday 28 February 2025, BLC Energy held the second of two public consultations for the proposed Cossans Solar & Battery and Energy Storage System (BESS) development near Forfar, Angus.
An online presentation took place on Monday 3 March at 18:00 for those unable to attend in person.
Event overview
The in-person event took place at Padanaram Hall, Forfar between 3pm and 7pm, and was attended by approximately 35 visitors comprising residents, elected representatives and business owners within the community.
Both the online and in-person events shared the progress made to the Proposed Development, with updates on the project design and the results of initial environmental assessments and impact surveys.
BLC Energy also presented a new initiative, designed in partnership with Octopus Renewable Infrastructure Trust, which would see 50% of the Community Benefit Fund go directly to residents living 2km from the project centre.
Attendees had the chance to speak to the project developers and environmental consultants, ask questions about the project and share feedback via physical and digital forms.
Neil Lindsay, Managing Director of BLC Energy, said of the event:
“Our second community consultation for the Cossans Solar & BESS project went very well, with a great turnout and several residents coming forward with questions about the development.
“Having held an initial consultation for the project in October last year, it was good to share the progress made to the development and to introduce our innovative plans for the Community Benefit Fund.
“We would like to thank everyone who came to both events and shared their feedback. These will help to inform the final project submission.”
