First public consultation held for Cossans & BESS

6 November 2024

On Monday 28 October, BLC Energy held the first of two public exhibitions showcasing the plans for the proposed Cossans Solar & Battery and Energy Storage System (BESS) development near Forfar, Angus. An online consultation presentation took place the following day for those unable to attend in person.

Event overview

The in-person consultation took place at Padanaram Hall, Forfar between 3pm and 7pm, and was attended by 27 visitors comprising local residents, elected representatives and business owners within the community.

The online and in-person events served as valuable opportunities for BLC Energy to share the plans for the development, speak to stakeholders and answer their questions about the proposal.

We valued the chance to hear from residents about their thoughts on the Cossans Community Benefit Fund and to discuss the next steps for the proposed development.

Neil Lindsay, Managing Director of BLC Energy, said of the event:

“Our first community consultation for Cossans went well, with a number of residents coming forward with questions about the project.

“Having previously spoken to the community councils and elected representatives for the area, it was good to listen to local people share their feedback and thoughts about the project. These will help to inform the final design for the development, which will be presented back to the community in early 2025.”

Next steps

The insights and feedback provided by those who attended the two events this month will be taken onboard and addressed at the second public consultation next year.

In the meantime, please keep an eye on the website for project updates and news.
